Slalom and Club Race
Champery Slalom Event & Valais Club Team Event
14 April 2013 at Gloucester Ski Centre
We invite racers to compete in the above event to be held at the Gloucester Ski Centre on Sunday 14 April 2013. We hope all racers and spectators have an enjoyable day, and we would like to thank the management and staff of Gloucester Ski Centre and all volunteers for their assistance, without them there would not be a race.
In the morning there will be a 2 run seeded slalom down the same course (minimum penalty 10 points). This event is sponsored by the ski resort of Champery Switzerland (the venue for the Welsh Alpine Championships). In the afternoon we will hold a club team Parallel Slalom event, sponsored by the Canton of Valais Switzerland.
Teams should consist of 4 racers; at least one member should be of the opposite sex to the others and at least one
member should be in the U10/U12/U14 category. Teams should consist of members from the same club, and clubs may enter as many teams as they wish to the team event. For clubs who struggle to meet the team requirements (ie where club skiers are left out after teams have been selected and entered), we will accept scratch teams submitted by affiliated clubs.
The team competition will commence with a league phase, so teams will get several races, the exact number will depend on the number of entries. Teams will be randomly drawn into leagues, and the top 2 teams from each league will progress to the knock out phase of the competition.
The race is open to all age categories, and if under-subscribed, the race will also be open to unregistered racers on
completion of the entry form at the end of this bulletin and payment of an additional fee of £5. U10/U12 & unregistered racers will not be eligible for seeding.
Registered racers are encouraged to enter through the online entry system via www.britski.org. Entries will also be accepted by post. The entry fee for this event is £20. Late entries may be accepted after the closing date, subject
to an additional fee of £10. The closing date for entries (however they are submitted) is 7pm Friday 5 April 2013. In the event of the race being oversubscribed, acceptance will be determined by seedpoints using the BARTS list current as at the closing date for entries. Registered racers with higher seedpoints will be given preference.
Team entries should be made by post to the race secretary using the entry form at the end of this bulletin. The closing date for team entries is 7pm Wednesday 10 April 2013. The entry fee for the team event is £20 per team.
Following entry into the race, a partial refund will only be given to racers with proof of injury or illness.
The times given below are provisional and may alter on the day, but in order to meet the tight timescales please ensure you are ready to start on time and listen care fully for any announcements. Every attempt will be made to keep to the event schedule; however the organisers reserve the right to amend the schedule as appropriate.
